Monday: Back to Basics - Peritonsillar Abscess

Look for sore throat with uvula deviation and fullness

Check Intracavitary Ultrasound to locate fluid collection and assess depth.

Aspirate with large gage needle, One time dose of steroids, start antibotics

Tuesday: Advanced Practice - Pregnancy and Critical Illness

Early involvement of Ob and consider Fetal Monitor

Same meds for RSI, Avoid acidosis

Fluid resusitation with lines above diaphragm (avoid femoral)

Place in Left Lateral Decuib position to improve venous return

Wednesday: What's the Diagnosis?

Thursday: #emconf - Rheumatoid Arthritis in the ED

High risk for traumatic injuries in spine 2/2 stiffness

Long standing RA is a risk factor for ACS

Major complication of treatment for RA is GI bleeding (Steroids and NSAIDS)

Friday: Critical Care - Management of Delerium Tremens

Often mimics other tyoes if critical illness

Use the CWIA score to assess severity of symptoms

Utilize lorazapam or diazepam to treat symptoms in progressive manner

Saturday: Board Review - Ob/GYN
