Step 1: “Cardiac Amp” or “Code dose Epi”
- 1 mg epinephrine diluted in 10 mL solution = 0.1 mg/mL or 100 mcg/mL
- 1 mL = 0.1 mg or 100 mcg epinephrine
Step 2: Dilution
- 9 mL normal saline + 1 mL of 0.1 mg/ml or 100 mcg/mL =
- 0.1 mg epinephrine in 10 mL solution = 0.01 mg/ml or 10 mcg/ml
Step 3: How to Use
- 0.1 mg epinephrine in 10 mL solution = 0.01 mg/ml or 10 mcg/ml
- 0.5 mL = 0.005 mg or 5 mcg epinephrine
- 1.0 mL = 0.01mg or 10 mcg epinephrine
- 2.0 mL = 0.02 mg or 20 mcg epinephrine
