Step 1: “Cardiac Amp” or “Code dose Epi”

  • 1 mg epinephrine diluted in 10 mL solution = 0.1 mg/mL or 100 mcg/mL
  • 1 mL = 0.1 mg or 100 mcg epinephrine

Step 2: Dilution

  • 9 mL normal saline + 1 mL of 0.1 mg/ml or 100 mcg/mL =
  • 0.1 mg epinephrine in 10 mL solution = 0.01 mg/ml or 10 mcg/ml

Step 3: How to Use

  • 0.1 mg epinephrine in 10 mL solution = 0.01 mg/ml or 10 mcg/ml
  • 0.5 mL = 0.005 mg or 5 mcg epinephrine
  • 1.0 mL = 0.01mg or 10 mcg epinephrine
  • 2.0 mL = 0.02 mg or 20 mcg epinephrine
