A Week in Review: Aug 5th - 11th
Classic Pentad = Fever, Hemolytic anemia, Thrombocytopenia, Renal pathology, CNS abnormalities
Workup = CBC, BMP PT/PTT, LFTs, LDH, haptoglobin
Tx = Plasma Exchange Therapy
Tuesday: Advanced Practice - Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
Symptoms = Nerve compressoin (tingling, numbness, weakness, pain) + venous symptoms (swelling, edema) rarely arterial symtoms
Work up = CXR for bony abnormality around 1st rib. Duplex US for narrowing / thrombus formation
Tx = Physical therapy, Anticoagulation if thrombus present
