Calcific tendonitis

Calcium crystal deposits along tendons (usually supraspinatus in shoulder)
- Deposits are jagged and irregular
- Causes severe pain with ROM of affected joint (which can mimic septic arthritis)
- Does not cause edema, erythema, warmth, or systemic symptoms of infection
Treatment
- Conservative (sling, NSAIDs)
- Referral for steroid injections/physical therapy/surgery
